Using FTP to Upload WBT Content to your FTP Site

Once you have obtained or created WBT content, you can upload it to your LearnCenter’s FTP site. You were given a designated FTP site to store WBT content and other files for their LearnCenter. Taleo Learn Support sent an email to the primary contact for your organization’s FTP site URL and login credentials.

The information you need to log on to your FTP site is:

InformationDescription
FTP Site URLDesignated URL for your LearnCenter’s FTP site.
Example: ftp://ftpNAP1.learn.com.
FTP Site UsernameDesignated username for your organization’s FTP site.
Note: this is not the same as a LearnCenter username. Example: training
FTP Site PasswordDesignated password for your organization’s FTP site. Note: this is not the same as a LearnCenter password.
Example: Ax2c9HL4

The directory structure of the LearnCenter’s FTP site includes the three directories:

All SCORM content must be uploaded to the SCORM folder in your LearnCenter’s FTP site. All AICC content files must be uploaded to the AICC folder. You can create sub folders or sub directories within each folder as needed. All other content must be uploaded to the UPLOAD folder. You are responsible for maintaining and organizing these directories.

Uploading Files

You can use any FTP software to transfer files to your FTP site. The specific steps will vary depending on the FTP software you use, but there are four main steps to transferring files using FTP software:

  1. Establish a connection between the FTP software and your LearnCenter’s FTP site (you’ll need the FTP account info above).
  2. Select the WBT content files to transfer from your computer or network.
  3. Select the destination directory on the FTP site into which the files will be transferred.
  4. Transfer the files. (This may take some time.)
Your organization is solely responsible for the contents of your LearnCenter’s FTP directory. Anyone using your organization’s FTP account assumes full responsibility for any consequences or damages. Taleo Learn is not responsible for any deleted, overwritten, or updated Course material in the FTP site directories.

You can overwrite existing Course files or add new files to directories, sub directories and:

  1. If you have made any major changes to the structure of the Course, such as adding more chapters or changed launch locations, re-import the Course into the LearnCenter and overwrite your existing Course.
  2. If you have made minor changes to the content such as replacing a graphic or Flash movie that does not affect the location where the Course is launched. The Course does not need to be re-imported. You can overwrite the relevant content file on FTP site.

Note: Contact Customer Support through My Oracle Support with any questions before overwriting any content on your LearnCenter’s FTP site.

Once you have uploaded content to your LearnCenter’s FTP site, you are ready to import it into your LearnCenter.
